I started this weekly menu plan a few months ago but I haven't stopped doing it for a while. The reason is just simply "I am too lazy to write it down". It's not too difficult to do but it requires a little bit of effort on one weekend. It's quite rewarding to me that I don't have to think everyday of what to cook tonight. Also, I get to use the cooking books that start piling up on the bookshelf.

The worst is that when I grocery shop without knowing what I am going to cook. As the result, I end up wasting vegetables and others or piling up ingredients in the pantry cupboard and waiting for the expiry date to come. I will spend less time at the supermarket too and thus, I spend less money.

This week my menu plan is still as usual as you can see on the list. However, this time I skip the Saturday's and Sunday's menu in the plan. I think a little bit of unplanned meals on the weekend won't hurt at all and this is the time to eat out or for impulse idea.

Monday            Swedish meatballs (köttbullar) with cabbage cooked in cream and onion with riced potato and lingonberry jam.

Notes from the kitchen:

-      I made the lazy style meatballs, i.e.: I didn't coat them with flour and the shapes are very irregular.

-      If you want to know the recipe for the meatballs, you can refer to Ikea’s Real Swedish Food (I used this one) or other köttbullar recipes. There are heaps of free recipes from the internet that you can refer to.

-      I cooked the potatoes in microwave but I don’t recommend this. It’s difficult to adjust the cooking time and the potatoes at end had leathery surface that is difficult to squeeze them from the potato ricer. I tried to chop the remaing potatoes in the food processor but the result was not that good. I think boiling or steaming them is still the best method. Microwaving the potatoes is good to par cooked them before baking.

-     Prepare the meatballs on the weekends.

 

 

Tuesday          Chicken stir fry with cashew (phat himalai), stir fry vegetables and rice 

Wednesday     Courgettes with beef (hobakmuchim) and rice

 

Thursday         Stir fry bean sprout and pork (phat thua ngok kap mu krop style) and rice (Cancelled as we ate at Pancake Parlour )

 

Friday               Linguine with pan fried chicken and creamy tomato sauce (Cancelled again hehehehe)

 

Saturday          Linguine carbonara with fried pancetta - dinner (No photo... nothing was left for the picture)

 

Sunday             Chicken tempura with mango sauce and rice

wah bisa ya bikin menu gini..kalau saya bikin menu iya tapi begitu masuk SPM lihat ini itu bagus beda lagi jadinya yang dimasak.... heheheh

iya dong *bangga mode dinyalakan* ehhehe kan namanya ada ditempel disudut kanan bawah tuh. tu foto gak bagus2 amat koq, masih pengen bikin yg spt di majalah tuh. sudut pengambilannya masih kurang sreg.

ehhehe aku pertama jg berasa aneh gitu, makan dgn selai. di ikea kan ada buku masaknya, ada beberapa resepnya yg pakai lingonberry jam.

makanya mesti taat ri... heheheh aku ngerasanya pas nyiapin bahan utk makan malam setelah pulang kerja. daging sudah dipotong2 dan bahannya pasti ada di dapur :)

aku sih lebih suka dua foto yg di bawah soalnya dua foto yg diatas warna biru taplak sm serbetnya kok kayaknya agak mengganggu fokus ke makanannya. Yg dua bawah itu pas banget apalagi ada warna merah utk membangkitkan selera makan. Soal sudut sih ya lama2 juga bisa bagus yg penting sering2 aja berlatih...

thanks banget buat masukannya. dilihat2 lagi emang betul sih, rame banget tu foto dan jadinya gak fokus.

ngedekor dan ngefoto sekalian susah ya... kadang mana otak dan mata sudah sepet, sekalian gak nolong deh heheheh kadang pengen pake background yg bermotif, tapi jadinya malah kayak pasar malam heheheh

makanannya nggak usah sepiring penuh kali ya? yg penting keliatan lah hehehe meatballnya sptnya perlu ditata lagi jadi gak kebanyakan di kiri foto...emang susah sih tapi kalo jadi kan puas banget..lihat2 foto di majalah aja Mbak..pasti bisa deh alah bisa karena biasa

duh rajinnya... kalo aku juga tadinya merencanakan menu utk bbrp hari, tapi selalu berubah tergantung penemuan di supermarket... he he ;)

nah itulah... heheh aku ngikutin idenya fixing dinner by sandi richard (yg notabene punya 7 anak). aku pernah ngikutin terus malas. sekarang lagi mau mulai lagi dan sekalian biar ngemake cooking book yg udah menumpuk di lemari. ternyata lumayan jg, cuma perlu di dapur sekitar 45 menit dari nyiapin sampe selesai masaknya. :)

thanks buat supportnya. pengennya go to the basic lagi nih. cari ilham di buku/majalah, terus ngopi dulu sebelum kreasi sendiri. itu ceritanya ngikutin yg ada di buku masakannya ikea tapi jadinya gak sesuai dgn aslinya hehehe

emang tu meat ball susah bener diaturnya, pada ngegelinding aja.

wah sama nih, kalo belanja mesti ada menu dulu. kalo ngak gw jadi kalap kepasarnya. ini itu dibeliin... I guess the only diff is, I start my menu from Sunday night till Thursday, as we usually go out on Friday and Saturday night.And Wednesday is not my cooking day, hehehehe..it's hubby cooking night, so it's his problem...;-))

iya nih... akhir2 ini lebih sering masak jepang dan korea. pengen masak makanan indo tapi begitu ngeliat bumbunya, aku suka jadi males buat menu weekdays. minggu2 mendatang sih udah direncanain ada yg masakan indo.

Iya sih Gin, gw jg pagi stlh nganter Lucy sekolah gw siap2in dah dibersihin di masukkin ke box, trs sore kan gampang tinggal sreng2 ya paling juga 20 menit dah rampung :-) save a lot of time :-)

tul banget ri. kalo gw ngeliat jam gitu, paling lama cuma 45 menit di dapur, dari potong2 sayur sampe selesai masaknya. kali masakannya jg yg cepet2 punya sih.

gw jg jadinya gak nyetok banyak daging beku di kulkas. abis bad habit sih, kalo dah beli kadang terlupakan.

btw, aku nggak pernah bikin menu - selain nggak disiplin, aku juga ngikutin maunya suami. Pingin makan apa hari ini? nah trus dadakan deh masaknya. Masak juga ndak tiap hari, suka pesen dari room service juga kalo lagi cooking blue.

Aku suka idenya mbak Reg punya planning dan teratur rapih jadinya nggak keteteran.

aku mah kalo nanya suami, paling dia bilang up to you. lha gimana dong??? heheheh aku ngikutin caranya si fixing dinner. ternyata emang jadi lebih cepet sih masaknya karena tahu mau bikin apa. soalnya kita pulang kantornya barengan sih dan udah dikejar jam utk dog walking.
