Regina's posts with tag: grocery shop
I have been buying fresh pasta from this shop for many times now. It's one of small shops in the shopping area of Oakleigh. I normally get the pasta on Friday after work for the lazy easy yummy weekend meals.
The shop sells different kind of nice fresh pasta from the filled pasta such as tortellini, ravioli, agnolotti to the plain pasta like spaghetti, lasagna sheet and cannelloni. They also sells deli stuffs as well like fresh Italian sausages, flat pancetta, cheeses, tomato sauces etc..
Why do I give the shop 5 stars? 1. The products are nice and consistent. The pasta is good and the filling is also good. 2. The service is always good. 3. The shop is always clean (well at least, at the front shop but I bet that the processing area is also clean). I noticed it from the window frames, under the fridge to the serving counter, no dust. 4. Price is reasonable and competitive.
There were some disappointments with the various packed fresh pasta that I've bought before. 1. Some brands do not have a good texture, not giving the nice resistance of al dente. 2. When the pasta has a good texture like Latina pasta, once I got the super salty one. It was pretty much 1 forkfull followed by water. *What am I going to do? Chuck it to the bin and nothing to eat at home? Really ruins my dinner. One time is more than enough!!* 3. How come it is called as fresh pasta when the pasta has many weeks of shelf life just because of Modified Atmosphere Packaging? Even when the product is microbiologically safe, the quality will progressively be gone.
Honestly, since I have been getting the fresh pasta from that shop, I haven't bought the packed fresh pasta from the supermarket.
